Aloof (-2): You generally view others as enemies, or treat others with such suspicion that they believe that's how you see them.
Explanation: You treat people rather coldly, and thus have a difficult time making friends. Can never be in a thread with more than two allies.
Allergies (-1): Some people are born with allergies, such is the way of the world.
Explanation: Your allergy must be stated in the application, and it must be something that has a chance of entering a role play (like pollen). When it comes into play, you suffer sneezing fits every post until it is removed, or you exit the thread.
Ambitious (-1): Some people like money, some prefer to be in charge--to be the guy (or gal) who runs the show or wields great power.
Explanation: If an opportunity arises that grants you more power, you will overthrow friends and enemies alike. It must be yours.
Amnesia (-1): At some point you were afflicted with amnesia. You don't remember anything other than your name, and only have a few trinkets that link you to your past. Be warned, though, the past rarely stays in the past.
Explanation: Your past is unknown to it, thus you can't mention it. All of your other flaws are unknown to you, but must resurface through role play.
Arrogant (-1): You are your god's gift to Earthland. You are the best at everything, you wear the best clothes, and your opinions are the only ones that matter.
Explanation: You must belittle someone, be it friend or foe, once every five posts.
Bad Reputation (-1): You're well known for not being the nicest person. Be it cruelty to animals, children, your enemies, or a wrong doing people know your name--and they don't like what they hear.
Explanation: Any NPC you meet immediately treats you as hostile, making interaction with them a chore. Some may outright refuse to offer you services.
Bipolar Mood Disorder (-3): Your mood swings are legendary, and you often switch between them at the drop of a hat.
Explanation: You must bounce from one emotion to the next every three posts. From happy to sad, loving to hateful, etc.
Blindness (-3): You are blind, and cannot see. This is a birth defect, thus cannot be healed by magical means.
Explanation: You are completely blind, will always be so, and as such you cannot see anything in a topic.
Branded (-2): You managed to escape jail at some point, but were already branded a criminal. This brand must be visible somewhere on your body and cannot be entirely covered up. If you're spotted by any law enforcement they will immediately try and arrest you. You may have been falsely accused and actually be innocent.
Explanation: Your brand must be visible, and in the presence of Rune Knights glows. If captured you must pay a fine to be released--sadly their book keeping sucks and they'll arrest you multiple times. This brand cannot be removed via magical means.
Bravado (-2): Whether false or true, you believe you can do anything in a fight--or at least hope.
Explanation: Sadly, because you're so focused on being awesome you cannot make or have any defensive spells.
Bruise Easily (-2): You have a skin condition that makes you bruise from the slightest of things. And man do those bruises hurt.
Explanation: Whether you take blunt damage from a fall, punch, or spell it is always increased by 1 Rank. I.E. a D Rank blunt spell would inflict C Rank damage to you.
Cautious (-2): Whether you're scared of failing, or just raised to take your time at things, you take your time to make sure nothing could possibly go wrong.
Explanation: Because of the additional time you take to do things, you must type an additional 20% words for everything that requires a word count.
Clumsiness (-1): You'd trip over your own shadow if that was possible. Who knows, maybe you have before.
Explanation: You're pretty clumsy. Once every five posts you must trip. If this post happens to be in combat, your spell completely misses it's target.
Colorblind (-2): There are various types of colorblind. The one that afflicts people in Fiore is actually colorblind. You see in black and white. Some shades of gray.
Explanation: You can't see colors, thus anything that requires deciphering of colors is impossible to you.
Compulsive Honesty (-2): Some people call this just plain blunt. You must always tell the truth, and cannot lie no matter what.
Explanation: As stated above, you are impossible of lying. Even if it's imperative that you do so, you cannot.
Cowardly (-2): Some call it cowardice, you prefer to refer to it as self preservation. Maybe even cautious.
Explanation: You're a bit of a scaredy cat, and thus cannot initiate combat with anyone who is 1 rank above you. If attacked you may fight back.
Cruel (-1): Beating your opponent isn't enough. You must demoralize them, humiliate them. Be it by going after their family, or making them do something completely shameful while at your mercy.
Explanation: When you have an opponent, be it past or present, you won't be satisfied until you've taken everything from them or humiliate them publicly.
Curiosity (-1): You can't help but investigate anything you find interesting. Pulling at the string isn't enough, you must climb into the rabbit hole and look around.
Explanation: You will always investigate things you find curious, even if it puts you in mortal danger. After all, nobody discovered anything by just standing around.
Daredevil (-2): You push yourself to the edge, and tend to be an adrenaline junky. You're only truly alive when you and death are toe to toe.
Explanation: You cannot refuse the chance to do something that carries a risk of death or maiming. In a group, you'll always be the first to volunteer for a dangerous task.
Dark Secret (-1): You have a particularly dark event in your past that you refuse to talk about. If anyone found out they would outcast you, or even try and hunt you down to kill you.
Explanation: Your dark secret must be mentioned on your application. Whenever something close to your dark secret is mentioned you cannot stop thinking about it for the next three posts.
Deafness (-3): A birth defect left you completely deaf. You're unable to hear any sounds, though can still feel the vibrations and compression from particularly loud noises (explosions, roars, etc). This cannot be magically cured.
Explanation: Simply put, you're deaf. You can talk, but not very well. You can read lips, though tend to get words mixed up pretty easily.
Dependent (-3): Whether it's your kid, a spouse, an old parent, or anything between you have someone that depends on you to bring home the bacon.
Explanation: The mods will place you on a list. Every request you perform will have 5% removed from the total. When claiming a request, you must state you have a dependent. Failure to do so will result in back pay to your dependent as 20% from your total jewel total.
Derangement/Insanity (-3): Whether your were born this way, or someone drove you to it (or an event) you are completely insane.
Depression (-3): You suffer from severe chronic depression. You don't always have to be depressed, but more often than not the class is half empty for you.
Explanation: You receive 10% less Jewel from Requests.
Disfigurement (-2): Whether it's a birth defect or an old battle wound, you're heavily disfigured. This disfigurement is often used how people describe you, such is it's hideous nature.
Explanation: Your disfigurement must be visible somewhere on your body.
Envious (-1): Green is your favorite color, it would seem. You're jealous of everything people have, often thinking that everyone has it better than you do.
Explanation: Every five posts you must state your envy for something someone has, be it magic, their romantic interest, or a personal effect. It can be anything you desire.
Extravagant (-2): Money was made to be spent. You live only for the finer things in life, and will often go well out of your way to purchase them.
Explanation: Whenever you purchase something, it must always be top of the line. You pay 10% more for everything you buy.
Fanaticism (-1): You are so strongly devoted to a cause, religion, or personal code that nothing can stand in your way to achieve it. You will burn down a village to kill an evil doer if you have to. You will sacrifice a limb if it means getting a deathblow on something you hate. You will turn in your allies if it goes against your beliefs.
Explanation: You must state what you're fanaticism is on your application. You will do whatever it takes to achieve your goal or beliefs, even if it means putting those you care about in the crossfire.
Fragility (-2): Your bones never quite developed from when you were a kid.
Explanation: Any spell that has the chance of fracturing a bone will completely shatter yours.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (-3): Your character suffers from severe anxiety, often times flaring up for no reason.
Explanation: Character has a tendency to snap at people for no reason.
Greedy (-1): Money is what makes the world turn, and you could always use more. You'll do whatever it takes to get that next pay day.
Explanation: Whenever money is involved, you're a completely different person. Someone need only flash some jewel to get your attention.
Harbinger of Ill Omen (-1): Whenever you see a certain person, disaster is sure to follow. In fact, you've learned that whenever you see this person it's best to lock yourself in doors for the next month because something is going to go wrong.
Explanation: You may either collaborate with another member and list them as your Harbinger, or staff will assign you one. This will often be an NPC, and whenever that NPC enters your thread, mods will change the condition of the thread against you. This can range from thunderstorms, wild beasts catching your scent, etc.
Hedonistic (-1): You can't pass up a good time. Going out drinking with your friends and partying are your two favorite things. After all, everything is better with more alcohol.
Explanation: Whenever beautiful people and drinks are involved, you can't say no. Even if it could be a trap, you'll go along with it--at least you'll get to indulge before you have to fight.
Inattentive (-1): Someone can be in the middle of explaining something really important, but honestly, that fly on the wall is much more interesting. You tend to allow your mind to wander, or day dream, more often than not.
Explanation: Your mind wanders one out of every five posts, including during fights.
Indecisive (-1): Choices are the bane of your existence. You always weight the options as carefully as possible, but even then you're not sure if it's the right one.
Explanation: You can never make a clear decision. Often time runs out, or you allow someone else to choose fore you.
Intolerance (-1): You have an extreme dislike, hate even, for something particular. It must be something viable, and have solid role play value. An intolerance of peanuts is lame, and won't be accepted.
Explanation: This intolerance must be listed on the application. Whenever your dislike comes into play, you immediately act hateful towards it.
Judgmental (-1): You judge someone as soon as you meet them, and are very slow to change your mind. If someone looks homeless, they're homeless. If a woman is scantly clad, she's clearly a prostitute.
Explanation: You form opinions of every new character you meet, instantly, and won't change them easily.
Lazy (-1): Some people say you're lazy, you say you just like to take it easy. After all, why work harder when you can just do the minimum and get by just fine?
Explanation: Whenever there is an extra award from a Request, you can never earn it.
Lecherous (-1): Passions of the flesh are the best kind. You like to sate your desires, and let others know when you find them attractive.
Explanation: If fighting or RPing someone that is of your sexual preference you must act lecherous towards them every three posts. If they act lecherous towards you, you cannot resist their wiles.
Merciful (-1): Sometimes mercy is the greatest kindness and weakness. You find it hard to kill anyone or anything, thus always choosing to let someone go rather than kill them.
Explanation: You cannot kill anyone, NPC or otherwise. Any Requests that ask you to kill anyone, or anything (beasts included) cannot be completed by you. You can do it, however, with someone without this trait.
Misfortunate (-1): If it wasn't for bad luck, you wouldn't have any luck at all. In fact, any time luck is involved, you start making back up plans.
Explanation: You do not receive any bonus rewards from Requests.
Motor Tension (-3): You can't stop moving sometimes, or your hands will shake for reasons beyond your control.
Explanation: One out of five every spells fail due to being unable to concentrate you aim.
Mute (-3): Through a birth defect or otherwise, you are unable to speak. This cannot be magically healed. You can communicate through other means, such as writing however.
Explanation: You can't speak at all.
Night Blindness (-2): You can't see at night at all. If it's dark, you're pretty much blind.
Explanation: Threads that take place, or when facing dark magic, result in you being unable to see any more than 5 meters in front of you.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: These show themselves as one of two categories, sometimes both. If you have a combination of the two, it is still only counted as a -3.
- Obsessions (-3): There is a certain thing, or person that your character is absolutely obsessed with.
Explanation: Your character must think about their obsession every five posts.
- Compulsions: (-3) There is something that you must have a certain way, be it everything arranged on a desk, or you must touch the door a certain way when exciting. It may be stupid, and you can admit it, but you have to do it.
Explanation: You will do your compulsion (such as pushing in a chair to a table) regardless of harm that it could do to you.
Overzealous (-1): Your opinions are not flawed, and everything you believe to be true is very dear to you. You believe it so much so, that you will violently defend it if need be.
Explanation: If someone every goes against something you believe to be true, you will defend your opinion through violence if necessary--even against allies.
Phobia (-3): You have an extreme fear of something. It can be anything, so long as it isn't too ridiculous.
Explanation: You are unable to face your fear. Whenever it comes into play you are either paralyzed with fear, or flee. An example would be someone with arachnophobia running in terror from someone with spider magic.
Proud (-1): Help is for the weak, and frankly you don't need that. You got this far on your own, you'll be able to get by just fine.
Explanation: You refuse to accept help from others, thus, cannot form a team with other players.
Reckless (-1): Some people say you lack fear, you'd like to think that too. You aren't really scared of anything, and take risks that have a high pay off.
Explanation: When fighting someone stronger than you, you will never flee.
Righteous (-1): You'll do whatever it takes to reach the end goal. You believe so strongly in something that you'll do whatever it takes--even sacrifice life and limb.
Explanation: Your beliefs guide everything you do, and if you have to kill someone because of them--even if it's a bystander in your way--so be it.
Short Attention Span (-1): Doing something over and over is tedious. Doing repetitive tasks to you is just flat out boring.
Explanation: Any spell cast twice a thread results in the second failing.
Shy (-1): Whenever you meet someone new, you're not sure how to talk to them. You're not sure if this is socially awkward or not, but you don't want to mess up by saying something wrong.
Explanation: You can never speak first in a thread, even with those you talk to every day. This includes initiating combat.
Slow (-2): Getting the lead out seems to be a problem for you. Via birth defect or just plain laziness, you're always sluggish.
Explanation: Speed buffs only have 50% effectiveness on you. This means that an A Rank speed buff will be treated as if it was a C Rank.
Squeamish (-1): Be it your blood or someone else's, you can't stand the sight of it. Even the smallest drop makes you sick to your stomach.
Explanation: None of your spells can ever draw blood, and must be blunt in nature. If blood is ever drawn in a thread you are in, and you see it, you faint.
Star-crossed (-1): Your taste in romantic interests could use improvement. More often than not you make the wrong choice and wind up getting hurt. Hold out though, we're sure you'll find the right one eventually!
Explanation: You fall in love with every enemy you fight against that is your sexual preference and species.
Talkative (-1): If someone wants someone to know something, you're the person they tell. You're incapable of keeping secrets.
Explanation: You must shout the name of every one of your attacks, even buffing spells.
Tongue-Tied (-1): You have a hard time relaying information when it really counts.
Explanation: Every time you try to explain something you forget things, mix up names, or mix up the time line of how things happened.
Trusting (-2): You would hate to think that people are actually as evil as they make themselves out to be. In fact, you'd like to think everyone is just acting bad and that they really mean well.
Explanation: Any time someone tells you a lie, you immediately believe it.
Vulnerable (-3): You aren't very good at defending yourself. Maybe you fell asleep when you were being taught defensive strategies, or just flat out didn't pay attention. Either way, your defensive skills are lacking.
Explanation: You may only dodge 1 out of every 3 attacks, regardless of how easy it is.
